Christmas
A mixed day today. Oh course, the birth of our Savior should supplant anything else, but I'm human. We didn't put up a tree because we are leaving very early in the morning, and except for a few lights, there are no Christmas decorations. I won't make that mistake again, it feels very blah in here. For the first time I can remember, I was the LAST one up! Thanks to my earplugs, I awoke at 10 to the sounds of Mannheim Steamroller rocking the house. The kids were here, waiting for the biscuits to go in the oven so we could open stockings. Santa didn't do all the traditional fillings, partly budget, partly 'cause we can't/shouldn't eat much of it. Breakfast was delicious and zany, but as we gathered stuff to go to gramma's to open presents and cook dinner, I discovered that the prime rib roasts in the garage fridge were still partially frozen. I had gotten two, a small one we could cook to well done for gramma, and a larger one to cook to medium rare. I guess the sub zero temps in affected the fridge too. There was no way they would be ready to go in the oven to have dinner at 2, or even 3. As we got there, I joked to gramma that we were all going to have a lesson in remembering what was really important, being together, and in being flexible, and it wasn't really important and would be worth the wait. She agreed, but later I heard her on the phone, not too happy. I had hoped dinner would be at 5, and the first. smaller roast came out of the oven around then, but of course it needed to rest, and I was hoping to get the other one out of the oven as well before we started eating. Just not to be, folks. We started eating around 6, and in the middle of the meal to carve the second roast. So, while the company, food, presents were great, I feel like I was a disappointment, ...again. Some things will never change. | | Friday, January 23rd, 2009 | | 4:37 pm |
My sparkly lip lights
So, while he is taking down the last of the icicle lights, Lynn says (sarcastically) "Too bad we don't have any red lights to put up for Valentine's Day. At which point I bring out the two boxes of sparkly red lip lights I've been saving for the occasion..... | | Friday, February 29th, 2008 | | 7:43 pm |

Dear Santa...
Dear Santa,
This year I've been busy!
In July mommehnator and I donated clothes to the needy (11 points). In September I gave change to a homeless guy (19 points). In May I had a shoot-out with rival gang lords on the 5 near LA (-76 points). Last month I set mimid316's puppy on fire (-66 points). Last Monday I signed my organ donor card (28 points).
Overall, I've been naughty (-84 points). For Christmas I deserve a moldy sandwich!
Sincerely, opramum | | | Thursday, August 24th, 2006 | | 5:50 pm |
A "little spill"
Oops!! It was only about 90 SECONDS, not 90 minutes. I was right there and as soon as I could find the shutoff valve, I shut the water off. | | 5:09 pm |
Anyone have an ark?
The saying will no longer be "into every life some rain must fall," but "into every life a water softener will explode." What a mess. After two days of three huge fans running non stop, there is still moisture under my floor. They are bringing a dehumidifier in tomorrow morning before 7 AM to try to salvage my floor. Maybe a new floor? Yuk. And it was just a little spill, a full fledged geyser for about 90 minutes. I guess the silver lining is that I was home. Two days earlier we were gone on vacation, and a half an hour later I would have been gone to work. | | Tuesday, February 14th, 2006 | | 2:24 pm |
Who am I?
I'm just starting this, with help from various sources. There is a picture of two of the best things I've ever done in my userpics! Happy Valentines Day to all whether you have a sweetie or not. | | Monday, February 13th, 2006 | | 10:19 pm |
A new journal
Well, it will be interesting to see how long it takes before people discover I have started a journal. I had no intention of doing so, but I needed to respond to a post I saw. I'm a pretty busy and interesting person, lots of things going on! opramum |
